Why did you choose to do a year of AmeriCorps service?

Last spring, I completed a program internship with the Food Literacy Center and loved it! After graduation from college, I knew I wanted to continue being a part of the food movement, so when I found out Food Literacy Center received an award from AmeriCorps I was excited for the opportunity to serve the Sacramento community.

Favorite moment in the classroom this year?

Watching the kids encourage each other to try different fruits and veggies!

What is the most interesting fruit or vegetable you’ve tried this year?

Persimmons!

What do you plan to do with the skills you’ve gained at Food Literacy Center this year (what’s next)?

After my service is over, I plan on applying for positions related to public health, so that I gain more experience before applying to graduate school.
