Food Literacy Month Success!

As we bid a fond farewell to September and Food Literacy Month, we’d like to extend a million carrot cartwheel of THANKS to everyone who made it such a success!

Thank you to our awesome sponsors: Poswall, White & Cutler; Simply Recipes;Elliott’s Natural Foods; Harbison Estate Vineyard; Attune Foods; Dignity Health; Broderick; Sierra Health Foundation; Kristin Thebaud Communications; Pat Soberanis; and Jeff Runquist Wines.

Cherry cheers to Peg and John Poswall, and Hank Shaw for hosting two magnificent fundraising dinners filled with incredible food, drinks and company!

A watermelon round off goes to The Selland Group and Councilmember Darrell Fong for making us the beneficiary of Farm to Fork Week’s Opening Reception. What a wonderful celebration of local farms and food literacy!

We’re extremely grateful to the 60 incredible restaurants in the Sacramento region that participated in our EatSMART campaign. Thank you so much for spreading the word on our program and for helping us raise much needed funds! In fact, One Speed and Dos Coyotes will continue running the campaign through October, so please keep dining and donating there!

A hearty jicama high five to Janine Mapurunga for making food literacy the beneficiary of her inspiring Sacramento Farmers & Chefs opening exhibit. What an honor to be surrounded by so many food literacy heroes in one room!

Thank you to Assemblymember Roger Dickinson, Yolo County Supervisor Jim Provenza, Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, and Councilmember Steve Cohn for passing resolutions for Food Literacy Month, and to Slow Food Sacramento for passing our youth Food Literacy Month resolution.

Thank you Whole Foods Sacramento and Whole Foods Roseville for making us a recipient of the Nickels for Nonprofits program, and for putting together in-store food literacy programs in September.

Most of all, thank you to all our hardworking volunteers who helped us in so many ways to make Food Literacy Month a huge success!
