River City Food Bank Raises Awareness of Hunger

River City Food Bank will be holding its largest fundraiser, Empty Bowls, at the Sacramento Convention Center on Monday, March 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 6, with two luncheon seatings at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Proceeds  will help provide emergency three-day food supplies to the increasing numbers of families and seniors in need.

Tickets are $60 per person for supper and $30 per person for lunch. Both supper and luncheon will feature gourmet soups created by local chefs as well as desserts, and supper will also include wine and hors d’oeuvres. In addition to the delicious meal, donors will receive a beautiful hand-made bowl to remind them of the many empty bowls in our community.

Purchase tickets online at http://www.rivercityfoodbank.org/empty-bowls/, or in person at The Cathedral Bookshop at 2620 Capitol Avenue or at the Avid Reader at the Tower, 1600 Broadway. Help River City Food Bank meet its goal of raising $125,000 to feed the hungry in our region.
