Last week, we celery-brated the completion of our 10-weeks of cooking and nutrition classes with a fennel-fun Kids Summer Farmers Market.
During our market at John Still Elementary, 58 students began their summer break with a bag full of in-season fruits and vegetables thanks to Nugget Markets and UC Davis Health! At the market, students shopped for carrots, peaches, broccoli and other produce, in total we distributed 765lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Our farmers market was held right before their summer break to ensure students have fresh fruits and vegetables to continue to practice what they’ve learned in class with their families at home.
