Food Literacy Fun for the Kids This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend with the whole family?

Food Literacy Center has you covered! From community gatherings to kids’ activities to cooking classes, there is something for everyone.

Check out these five cool cucumber activities:

THURSDAY

Sing for Your Salad

Join us at the Rancho Cordova Library for one of our summer food literacy programs that combine our love for veggies and music. It’s sure to be a great one for the kids, so make sure to bring them out!

GATHER Oak Park

GATHER is a large, open-air community celebration that is fun for people of all ages! Food, beer, music, art, and much more! We’ll be doing a fruit & veggie full kids’ activity this Thursday, so be sure to stop by and say hello.

SATURDAY

Oak Park Sol Cooking Classes

Food Literacy Center is partnering with Oak Park Sol Community Gardens to provide a FREE cooking and nutrition class for the whole family this Saturday morning in their new outdoor kitchen. This will a great chance to bond as a family and learn about healthy eating. Sign up early for an opportunity to be inspired to eat your veggies!

Arden Fair Mall Kids Club

We’re teaming up with Sacramento Republic FC to create a fun-filled event for the Arden Fair Mall Kids Club. Kids will be making a healthy snack and getting active. This is a FREE event and will be sure to be artichoke amazing for the children in your life! Don’t miss out!

Sacramento Summer Night Lights Kick-off

Join us for the Sacramento Summer Night Lights Kick-off this Saturday at the Oak Park Community Center. Food, music, art, and much more! We will putting on a cooking class suitable for children and families, so come check it out!

Location: Oak Park Community Center, 3415 Martin Luther King Blvd

Can’t come to Saturday’s kickoff? Not to worry, we will be teaching a cooking class every Thursday at Oak Park Community Center until August 20, so you won’t have to miss out on the vivacious veggie fun!
