Rainbow Park Community Garden’s Orientation on April 27

The Rainbow Park Community Garden will be holding an opening/orientation day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The garden is located on 3901 42nd Avenue, just east of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

At this event, prospective gardeners can complete the orientation, fill out registration forms, select a plot, pay the annual fees, and receive free seed packets. Park district staff and community garden expert Bill Maynard will be on hand to answer any questions. If it rains, the event will be held at the Fruitridge Community Center at 4000 Fruitridge Road.

The goal of this community garden project is to provide neighborhood residents access to fresh, local food by growing their own fruits and vegetables. In addition to improving their nutrition, they will also have an opportunity to exercise and get some fresh air while gardening. Community gardens provide a great place to spend time with family, friends and neighbors.

Drinks and snacks will be provided. Call (916) 395-0601 ext 18 to register.
