  What is your educational background?
I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in June 2018 with my
  Bachelor of Science in nutrition.
In which schools are you in currently
  serving?
Bret Harte, Susan B. Anthony, PS7 and Parkway
Why did you choose to do a year of AmeriCorps
  service?
I’ve always known that I wanted to help people. After graduation
doing a year of service felt like a natural next step. I am in
love with the mission of the Food Literacy Center and am excited
to be on the front line helping to fight childhood obesity!
Favorite moment in the classroom so far?
When the kids call me ‘miss avocado lady.’
What is the most interesting fruit and/or vegetable
  you’ve tried this year?
Jujube! We went on a tour of the farmers market and tried jujube
for the first time. They are the size of a tomato but taste like
an apple, and are an awesome addition to any salad!
How have you grown, or what skills are you stretching
  into?
Being an Americorps member for the Food Literacy Center has
really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I have found myself
taking on leadership roles that I never expected of myself.
What do you plan to do with the skills you gain at Food
  Literacy Center?
Change the World! I hope to use everything I have learned and
apply it to my future career (whatever that may be) and continue
to be a positive advocate in impacting our food system.
