Sara Fung
Deputy Director

Sara joined Food Literacy Center in 2025 as Deputy Director to oversee the program and operations teams. She believes all children should have access to the food and joyful learning experiences they need to thrive.

For more than 20 years, Sara has worked in nonprofits to improve community members’ access to critical health and human services with a focus on children and youth. She managed local policy and advocacy efforts at the Community Services Planning Council to improve the lives of children and other vulnerable populations in Sacramento County. She also oversaw implementation of programming at the Child Abuse Prevention Center to enhance the safety and well-being of children and youth throughout California. Sara was responsible for child welfare development and communications activities at Children Now.

Sara holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Behavioral Science and Law and Sociology.
