Karen joined Food Literacy Center in 2025 as the Office Manager. She oversees daily operations and special events that bring the organization’s mission to life. 

Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Communications from California State University, Monterey Bay, and Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, studying in Media, Communication & Culture. She spent three years as an environmental justice reporter and graphic designer for her local school newspaper. She began her nonprofit journey by spearheading a program teaching technology skills and local transportation navigation to refugees. 

Beyond work, Karen finds joy in travel, language learning and solace in a cappuccino, a cold plunge, and time at the pottery wheel.
