YOU can help! Food Literacy Center is largely volunteer-run, with
over 100 active volunteers. Activities range from hands-on kids’
recipes and crafts in the classroom, community events and more
All volunteers that plan to assist with program and work with
kids must get fingerprinted by both our organization and SCUSD
per district policy. Food Literacy Center provides a low-cost
vendor at $27 (reimbursable after you 5th time volunteering). The
School district provides a low-cost vendor for volunteers located
at the district office for $47.

volunteer, any false statements, omissions, or other
misrepresentations made by me on this application may result in
my immediate dismissal.
In addition, I understand that in accordance with State and
Federal guidelines, I must be cleared through the state criminal
registry (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and
National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW.gov) in order to
ensure that community members with whom I work are protected.

Volunteers under 16 must volunteer with an adult (please note:
these opportunities are limited). Volunteers age 16-17 must
receive parental/guardian permission by having them sign a
liability waiver and volunteer program policy. All 18 and over
volunteers in our school and library programs are required to be
fingerprinted and to complete a DOJ background check (including
adult accompanying volunteers under 16 years).
