In September 2012, we worked with Assemblymember Dickinson to declare Food Literacy Month in California to raise statewide awareness about the need for cooking and nutrition education for kids! 

We celebrate each year, and there are many ways you can help us make a difference!

Food Literacy Month Kick-Off

Fruit-to-Root Literacy Fair presented by Raley’s

Date: September 12

Location: McClatchy Park

Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Fair will include:

  • Oak Park Farmers Market
  • Food trucks
  • Vegetable petting zoo
  • Cooking demonstrations
  • Music
  • Interactive, hands-on activities
  • Bookmobile and reading space
  • Education
  • Zero Waste

Farm-to-Fork Restaurant Weeks

Dates: September 10-27, 2015

Farm-to-Fork Restaurant Weeks is produced by the California Restaurant Association Sacramento Chapter. A portion of all proceeds made during the two week event will be donated to the Food Literacy Center. Read more.

Whole Foods Market 5% Day
